It may seem like a wild departure from the norm, but the truth is that even a performance-focused brand like Dodge is looking ahead toward a future of electric vehicles. While that may seem criminal for a brand that’s been all about fire-breathing supercharged V8 power, the upside of electrification has big benefits to those who love the feeling of raw power under the hood. Currently, Dodge has plans to release an electric muscle car by 2024, and Team Walsh Jeep Chrysler is here to let you know what we’ve heard so far.

About the Dodge Electric Muscle Car

Dodge’s eMuscle program has already been announced, with concept images being shown off in the summer of 2021. A fully-fledged concept vehicle will be appearing sometime in 2022, with a planned release of production models starting in late 2023 for the 2024 model year. While that may seem like a long way in the future at the moment, development of the electric powertrain has been underway for some months already, and Dodge has committed to deliver an adrenaline-pumping electric experience to it’s muscle car lineup. With a retro design hearkening back to the Charger of the 1970’s, the Dodge eMuscle will surely be a blend of old-school cool to balance out the futuristic powerplant under the hood. But don’t think it won’t be without some level of legitimate theatre. Electric powered vehicles have the ability to deliver instant torque, so putting your foot down will plant you in your seat and give the tires something to worry about every time you get behind the wheel. In addition, the new Dodge eMuscle is slated to deliver up to 500 miles of range, so those long grand touring road trips will still be well within range.
